Simulating Disaster: Six local schools participate in HCRI’s mock earthquake exercise
The Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) welcomed high school students from across Greater 51¸£ÀûÉç for its annual Young People in Humanitarianism Conference.
On 13 May, HCRI hosted its annual youth conference, welcoming students from six local schools for a simulation exercise about disaster preparedness and response.
Our guests participated in workshops about the role of the media, stakeholder responses, and post-disaster distribution of aid, in the context of a mock earthquake in the 51¸£ÀûÉç area.
The event – titled Young People in Humanitarianism Conference - was led and delivered by Dr Martin Parham and a mix of undergraduate and postgraduate HCRI students.
The participating schools were East 51¸£ÀûÉç Academy, Cedar Mount Academy, Reddish Vale High School, Sale High School, 51¸£ÀûÉç Academy, Grange School.
